The great yarn bombing of 2014

So you wouldn’t believe how excited we’re getting at CAMH about being YARN BOMBED!

CAMH’s Queen Street site is lucky enough to be the target of a community event: 100 in 1 Day, a citizen driven-festival to unite people across the city to make Toronto a better place by creating acts of urban change.

The event is held in several Canadian cities, with Toronto events taking place this Saturday, June 7.

There are all types of creative projects happening on Saturday – the yarn bombing at CAMH is one of 170 events taking place across the city. The interventions are intended to raise awareness of urban and social issues, inspire ideas, and motivate leaders to consider new approaches to old problems.

So, why not come by on Saturday June 7, to see the creation of 40 to 50 knitters and crocheters, who will have installed a patchwork of colourful squares, sewn together, to wrap around a fence right in front of CAMH at Queen West and Shaw Streets.

The project will reinforce a positive message and feature CAMH’s vision statement “Transforming Lives.” Can’t wait to see it!

A special thanks to the organizers of 100 in 1 for including CAMH in its list of events, and sharing positive messages in support of mental health. And thanks to all the knitters and crocheters!

CAMH has such great neighbours in the community that help raise funds and advocate to end the stigma related to mental health and addiction issues. A big thanks from all of us!
